In the years prior to refrigeration the meat products were preserved in salt and the meats were less palatable then they are today. At that time there were many catsups made from other basic ingredients, the tomato catsup became the most popular and is presently associated with the catsup name.
Our Blackberry Catsup is from one of those forgotten products of yesteryear and is used as a steak sauce, for basting, or as a dipping sauce on any pork, chicken or beef.
